Reports: UR653451-UR6: The Characterization and Conformational Preferences of Long Alkyl Chains Using Advanced Broadband Microwave Spectroscopy

Stephen A. Cooke, PhD, State University of New York, College at Purchase

For the prior year we have made significant progress on this work. Multiple rotational spectra have been recorded using our chirped pulse, Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. These include spectra for a series of halo-substituted alkanes, two thioethers, and some regular ethers. Numerous undergraduate students have been able to use these data in their senior theses and the resulting analyses will result in peer reviewed publications in repoutable journals. All of the data collected is new.
