Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Materials II, at the ACS Polymer Division Workshop, March 2-5, 2008, Ventura, CA

Frank D. Blum, Missouri University of Science and Technology and Richard Laine, University of Michigan

The Polymer Division workshop on Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Materials II was held on 2-5 March in Ventura, California. Frank Blum (Missouri Institute of Science and Technology) and Richard M. Laine (University of Michigan) chaired the event, which included 46 participants. Adrian Accurso (Scripps Research Institute) was recognized for best poster at the event. The meeting brought together researchers from industry, government, and the academy who focused on a variety of hybrid materials, including those with nanoparticles of metals and glass formers.  These materials have applications in a variety of fields, including structures, photocells, and lithography.  A total of 17 oral and 13 poster presentations were made. The contributions were well balanced with a mixture from academia, industry, and government. PRF contributions went to partially fund the travel expenses of three foreign speakers (Japan and two from France).  The Division produced a CD for the participants that included pictures, abstracts, and most of the presentations.
