Physical Chemistry of Atmospheric Processes, at the ACS National Meeting, April 2008, New Orleans, LA
Matthew J. Elrod, Oberlin College
The symposium, Physical Chemistry of Atmospheric Processes, which took place at the ACS National Meeting, April 2008, New Orleans, LA was an excellent demonstration of the wide ranging science that is currently being applied to atmospheric problems. Three international speakers were supported by PRF funds:
“Measurements of free-radicals in the atmosphere using laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy,” Dwayne E. Heard, School of Chemistry, University of Leeds. “Photoenhanced uptake or deposition of ozone onto organic films,” Christian George, IRCELYON, CNRS.
“Biological origins of aerosol particles,” Meinrat O. Andreae, Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz. All three speakers provided unique insights on atmospheric processes that were very valuable to the symposium.
The symposium consisted of nine sessions, each of which averaged about 50 attendees.
