Bold Predictions in Theoretical Chemistry: A Symposium in Honor of Bill Goddard, at the ACS National Meeting, August 2007, Boston, MA
Mark S. Gordon, Iowa State University
This PRF SE grant was in partial support of a symposium at the Boston American Chemical Society meeting, in the COMP division, titled "Bold Predictions in Theoretical Chemistry: A Symposium in Honor of One of the Boldest, Bill Goddard, on the Occasion of his 70th Birthday". This symposium brought together many of the leading figures in theoretical and computational chemistry in the US and around the world. There were 10 half-day oral sessions plus a poster session. The topics covered in the symposium ranged from advances in density functional theory to new developments in correlated electronic structure theory to a wide variety of applications of theoretical chemistry to interesting topics in molecular structure, chemical reaction mechanisms and spectroscopy. Attendance at the sessions averaged 80-100.
