Mechanisms of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalytic Epoxidation, at the ACS National Meeting, August 2007, Boston, MA
S. Ted Oyama, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
The symposium on “Mechanisms in Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Epoxidation Catalysis” was held at the 234th ACS National Meeting in Boston on August 19-23, 2007. It was a substantial success by all measures. The symposium was held over five days and encompassed 8 sessions. The program involved notable speakers from all over the world, with 12 Keynote Lectures, as well as 2 lectures from previous ACS Presidents. Participation was extensive, and the lecture room had to be changed to a large ballroom. Discussions were active and stimulated many interactions during and after the lectures. Frequent coffee breaks sponsored by industrial donors kept the audience engaged. A book edited by S. Ted Oyama, including a 100 page review of mechanisms, has already appeared in print. Also the papers appeared in the Petroleum Division Preprints. These will represent a permanent record of the best papers presented.
Below are reported the sessions held, and the speakers invited.
