About the Annual Report

An overview of the grants and awards PRF authorized in 2007, as well as details about program operations.

In 2007, the Petroleum Research Fund committed to new grants totaling more than $25.2 million, the largest amount we have ever awarded in a single year. As a result, the Fund now supports a total more than 1,300 active grants — enabling ongoing, innovative research at colleges and universities in the U.S. and elsewhere.

This report provides an overview of the grants, fellowships, and sabbaticals that were active in 2007. These include active research grants in over 400 colleges and universities in the United States, as well as others in Canada, England, France, Germany, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, The Netherlands, and Spain.

As a service to other investigators, scientists, and engineers, the report also explains the various types of grants available, funding criteria, the PRF Advisory Board, and other program details. For additional context, the report includes an overview of the dynamic history of the Fund, established in 1944.
