Electrochemistry and Functional Nanomaterials, at the 34th Annual Meeting of the Federation of Analytical Chemistry And Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS), October 2007, Memphis, TN
Shaowei Chen, University of California (Santa Cruz)
This grant was to provide travel support for three oversea invited speakers to attend the 34th FACSS Meeting in Memphis, TN from October 14 to 18, 2007. The speakers included Prof. Nicolas Alonso-Vante from the Universite de Poitiers (France), Prof. Shi-Gang Sun from Xiamen University (CHINA) and Prof. Yi Xie from the University of Science and Technology of China (CHINA); they received $1200 each. These speakers were part of the Symposium of Electrochemistry and Functional Nanomaterials that I organized for the conference. Prof. Alonso-Vante's presentation was entitled "Synthesis and characterization of selective electrocatalysts in the nanoscale length for fuel cell reactions", Prof. Sun talked about "In situ microscope FTIR spectroscopy and its applications in nanomaterials studies", and Prof. Xie's talk was focused on "New-phased Nanostructures Designed for Lithium-ion Batteries Applications". All these presentations shared a common theme, that is, materials, electrochemistry and energy science. A reasonable size of audience was attracted to these presentations, with rather stimulating discussion in the symposium.
