The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. will serve as our headquarters hotel. It is easily accessible to various transportation venues, including Metro, the D.C. area’s subway system. As soon as you know you will be attending the conference make your hotel reservation as rooms go fast. The housing deadline is May 26, 2012 or when the room block is sold, whichever comes first. While attending the conference, we encourage our guests to enjoy the many local, historical attractions at any of the 15 Smithsonian Museums, as well as the Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington Memorials. We also encourage attendees to see the workings of the U.S. government by touring the country's Capitol Building or heading to the White House visitor's center. Student Housing

Discounted student housing (double and single accommodations) will be available on the campus of American University for students that register to attend the 16th Annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference. Prices include air-conditioned temperature-controlled rooms, linens, internet/WiFi, parking, and access to the campus fitness center and shuttle bus*. Each floor features laundry facilities, and tv lounges/mini-kitchen.

*The American University shuttle bus (BLUE line) runs between the campus and the Tenleytown/AU METRO station (red line). The conference venue, Marriott Wardman Park, is located approximately 10 minutes from the American University campus by bus/train. STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

Through a generous grant from the National Science Foundation, we have been able to offer travel grants to U.S. students at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels. This year, 28 undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students have been named as "NSF Scholars". We congratulate them and look forward to meeting them at this year's conference.

Washington, DCl is accessible from three major DC area airports:

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Washington Airport (BWI)

All airports offer several transportation options including taxi, private car service and commuter train (Baltimore).  In addition, the Washington Reagan airport is serviced by the DC Metro system. SuperShuttle offers door-to-door shared transportation services, and can be booked online.  The conference hotel does not provide transportation.  

Getting Around DC
